Bio: Hi! I’ve been jumping for 7 years. I love jump rope – it’s amazingly fun and a great workout. There’s always more to learn, more to strive for, and more friends to make. The friendliness of jumpers and their families is incredible. Just like any sport, it’s competitive, but jumpers aren’t aggressive or hostile. Everyone is really open-minded and welcoming to different teams and members. It’s all about being a family and learning as much as we can from each other. It doesn’t matter where you come from, how old you are or what language you speak – we all connect through the language of jump rope. That’s my ultimate favorite thing about jump rope. Through it I’ve been taught teamwork and to have patience not only with myself when I’m trying to get a new skill, but also with others I’m working with. So much patience! I really enjoy being an assistant and I love all my teammates. I hope to improve my skills in the future and spread the wonderful sport of jump rope to anyone that I can!

ST. PETERSBURG – More than 40 youth participated in this past Saturday’s jump rope workshop held at the Thomas “Jet” Jackson Recreation Center. Veteran jump rope coach, Yvonne Moody, and her team the Hurricane Jumpers came from Miami to teach the basics: speed, power and freestyle.
